Maren Hollis
I moved out to Purcellville from Arlington nine years ago for the usual reasons and stayed for less obvious ones, which is roughly the subject of everything I write here.
Before this I covered local government for a chain of weeklies, which is where I learned that the planning commission agenda tells you more about a county than any amount of marketing, and that the person who answers the phone at a family business will tell you the truth if you ask a specific question.
I write about Loudoun the way I would describe it to a friend considering the move: what is genuinely good, what is overrated, what the new construction is doing to the roads, and which of the places everyone recommends are actually worth it.
